Where is onslow beach
Another great stay, clean bathhouse, clean campsite. Great people working in the front office. Hope the COVID doesn't close this campground down again, my family and I look forward to returning later this summer.
Stay safe and healthy. September October 4, October 21, The camping area at Onslow Beach is still available and in excellent condition. Unfortunately, while we were staying in a Cabana in September of , we were forced to evacuate due to Hurricane Florence, which produced major damage to most of the lodging units.
The three-bedroom Ospreys, the ocean front Studio Cabanas, and the units reserved for higher ranking officers and enlisted were all rendered uninhabitable. At this time, the only units that are still available are the lodges.
Here is the information their web site provides about the lodges: Conveniently located on the second row of the island and just a short walk to the ocean! All lodges include a living room, full kitchen, master bedroom with a queen size bed, 1 bath and a loft area. All lodging units are fully furnished to include kitchenware. Please bring your own air mattress or sleeping bags if you will be using the loft area extra linen is provided.
Lodges can accommodate 2 - 4 if using loft area. Smoking is prohibited in MCCS facilities. Pet friendly units are available at an additional daily charge. July , July 18, My wife and I enjoyed our stay 2nd time here this year.
We had RV site The Campground and bath house were very clean. A short walk to the beach and mini MCX. Courteous and Professional staff at the reservation office. We look forward to returning in the near future. We stayed July April , April 22, First time here at Onslow Beach. Great location ,you can't beat the great beach access. My family and I enjoyed our stay. Only small complaint, the grass needed to be cut. April April 17, We have been RVing for the past 3 years.
We have visited every state except Kansas and have tried to stay in military campground whenever possible we have been to dozens. I try to leave reviews so others can know about the RV parks. Most every park have been adequate to excellent. The directions on this page say to get in the left lane to turn onto Snead Ferry Road.
Do not go left! Check in was not smooth. I made reservations 2 months in advanced. I was told twice that we pass the Mini Mart and just choose a site. Then, let the office know what site we chose. Never heard of this before, so had the gal confirm that we are not assigned a site.
I asked which site we were assigned. Asked to speak to a manager. Umm, have the email confirmation in hand with our dates. That got straighten out and the manager tells us our chosen site is fine, that nobody was on that site.
The site had said free WIFI. It was pretty much nonexistent. They have a few papers available in slots on the wall, but give you no check-in booklet, as most military camps do. I asked the check in gal where the Commissary was located. The supervisor was friendly and thinking she has to deal with issues frequently. I almost felt badly for her. They would let maintenance know about their issue. The sites. Lawns weeds overgrown and not really neat, kept up sites.
Sites are sandy gravel and weeds. There are one set of dumpsters at the end of the road. A dog in a site across from us barked pretty much nonstop during our stay. The cable worked fine with their equipment that you need to ask for. No channel guide given at check in, so had to go through a channels finding the ones we wanted to watch.
Those keys need to be returned at check out. The bath house and laundry are adequate. The air conditioner unit I think that is what it was over the sink area had a significant leak and good size puddle on the floor.
